Government bans hold luggage on flights between Sharm el-Sheikh and UK under new strict security measures
Wheelchairs, pushchairs, and car seats are among items banned from all UK-bound flights from Sharm el-Sheikh under emergency security measures announced by the government.
Flights will not be permitted to carry any hold luggage at all - including large medical items.
Instead, passengers will only be allowed to take on one small piece of hand luggage, while larger items will be securely shipped separately via government couriers.
The restrictions include:
Only one small item of hand luggage will be allowed per passenger.
This should only contain essential items, such as valuables, travel documents, house and car keys, medication, cash and credit cards
The bag should be small enough to fit under the seat in front
Any bags bigger than this may be removed and shipped alongside the hold luggage
Bags for babies with essential items like nappies, milk and baby food will be allowed
No hold luggage will be allowed on board - including items such as pushchairs, car seats, wheelchairs and large medical items
Customers will be asked to attach an external label featuring their full name and address on the outside of all hold luggage, as well as on a piece of paper inside every bag.
This will be checked-in as normal, but instead of being taken to the plane, luggage will be checked and secured before being transported to the UK separately.
