Subway singer's rendition of Sam Cooke classic viewed by more than two million

An unknown busker's knockout performance of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come on a New York subway platform has gone viral after being shared by a fellow singer.

Video of the man performing the 1964 civil rights anthem in front of a handful of travellers has now been seen more than two million times on Facebook.

The performance has gained 34,000 likes and more than 36,000 shares since New York-based singer George Baz uploaded the video to his page on Wednesday in praise of the talented man.

Baz has also received more than 2,000 comments about the video as people rushed to praise the performer.

"What a gift!!! A voice that would stop me in my tracks, bring tears to my eyes & joy to my soul. Sir you are amazing!" wrote Facebook user Latisha Kiarra Lee.

"If he could sing at my wedding my wish would come true!" said Dee Miyeon.

Rena Rivers added: "You hardly ever see old talent like this, sick of seeing young people doing covers yeah they sound nice. But it'd be nice if we had more like this man and music from his era."

Sharlotte Tata was among many calling for the performer to earn a professional contract.

"SOMEONE SIGN HIM UP ALREADY!! His vocals are massive," she said.

Baz confirmed the man was from New York and was "not signed currently".

Judging by the online response that change is gonna come pretty soon.
