Burger King may start serving beer at UK branches

Burger King could become the first fast food chain to sell alcohol in its UK restaurants after it announced plans to sell beer in plastic bottles from this month.

It has applied for drinks licences in four of its branches so far - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Blackpool, Hull and Bury St Edmunds.

If the plans are given permission, Burger King will be able to sell alcohol from 10am to 11pm seven days a week.

If licences are granted in the four stores, Burger King may apply for licences nationwide.

There are currently more than 654 Burger King restaurants in the UK.
