Hurricane Patricia: Footage reveals full force of one of the strongest storms on record as it hit Mexico

The terrifying force of Hurricane Patricia - one of the strongest storms ever recorded - has been revealed in a series of eyewitness videos.

The Category Five hurricane ploughed into the Pacific coast on Friday, with 200 mph winds and heavy downpours bringing down trees, roofs and flooding streets.

Footage posted on social media showed the sheer power of the storm.

A timelapse video appearing to show the progression of the storm was also shared on YouTube.

Despite its strength, officials say Hurricane Patricia has not caused the widespread damage that many predicted and no fatalities have so far been reported.

The hurricane has been downgraded to a Category One storm after losing power in the mountains.

But the Mexican president said his country "cannot yet let our guard down" with experts warning of "life-threatening flash floods and mudslides".
