China's Premier Xi Jinping posed for a selfie with striker Sergio Aguero and Prime Minister David Cameron during a visit to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.

President Xi also met the team's former players Patrick Vieira and Mike Summerbee, and ex-Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Denis Law during the visit on the last day of his UK tour.

Accompanied by Cameron, he visited the National Football Museum and he witnessed former City player and Chinese international Sun Jihai being inducted into the hall of fame.

Jihai is the first Chinese player to be inducted into the hall of fame.

The party, accompanied by City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, then went to Manchester Town Hall for a lunch.

Hundreds of British-based Chinese people gathered near the town hall holding red flags of China chanting "We love you President Xi".

There did appear to be some stage management and co-ordination of the large turnout of supporters, with some Chinese people appearing to direct the "spontaneous" gathering.

Meanwhile, protesters on another corner held a banner demanding justice for human rights and others for Falun Gong, a spiritual group which has faced persecution in China.
