Father of murdered Soham schoolgirl Holly Wells: I think about her everyday - but I can't live in the past
The father of murdered schoolgirl Holly Wells said he still thinks about his daughter everyday but is determined not to "live in the past".
Holly and her best friend Jessica Chapman were murdered by former school caretaker Ian Huntley in Soham, Cambridgeshire in August 2002.
They were just 10 years old.
Kevin Wells told Good Morning Britain that the family have now moved back to their old home in Soham, which they shared with Holly, in a bid to try and move on with their lives.
"We still think of Holly everyday; we have her pictures in and around the house, but it's not a shrine - we don't live in the past."
Holly and Jessica vanished after leaving a family barbecue to go for a walk on 4 August 2002.
Their bodies were found around two weeks later in a ditch following one of the largest police searches the UK has ever seen.
Huntley was given two life sentences for murdering the schoolgirls in 2003 following a high-profile trial at the Old Bailey.
His girlfriend Maxine Carr, a teaching assistant, was jailed for perverting the course of justice. She was released from prison with a new identity in 2004.
Asked how he felt about Carr's freedom, Mr Wells said: "We don't reflect on it at all. It's been through the court process and we accept the outcome and focus our attention on other areas."
Mr Wells now works for bereavement charity Brief Encounter to help others cope with the loss of a loved one.
He recently trekked the Great Wall of China to raise money for the charity.
"They were our darkest days but it was 2002 and we pledged as a family that we could do something positive from losing Holly."
