Man dies on Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon to Dublin 'after biting passenger'

A man has died on a flight after biting another passenger.

The 24-year-old became agitated and violent halfway through the two-hour Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon to Dublin on Sunday.

Another passenger was bitten as he tried to restrain him.

The man subsequently fell unconscious while on the flight and the plane was diverted to Cork Airport after what Aer Lingus described as a "medical emergency".

He was pronounced dead at the airport.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the body of the man to establish if he suffered some form of a seizure or had an underlying medical condition.

All 168 passengers and six crew members were interviewed after flight EI485 landed safely at 5.40pm.

The passengers were later taken to Dublin by bus, according to RTE.
