'Filthy' Kebab shop fined £10,000 for hygiene offences

A kebab shop owner has been fined £10,000 after hygiene inspectors found "filthy" conditions including mice droppings near the oven and meat being stored on the dirty floor.

Minoo Sefidan, director of Megabite Catering Limited, pleaded guilty to 21 health and safety charges relating to the takeaway restaurant in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth, at the city's magistrates' court.

Portsmouth City Council, which brought the prosecution, has released photographs showing the "filthy" conditions inside the premises including raw meat being stored next to cooked products and dirty storage areas.
