Has it just become harder to win the lottery?

Changes to the weekly Lotto draw will come into force tomorrow, leaving players of the game wondering if the chance of them winning the jackpot is now even more of a distant dream.

Saturday's draw will be the first after the number of balls is increased from 49 to 59, which statisticians say means the overall chance of winning the jackpot will decrease to one in 45 million.

According to game organisers Camelot though, players will actually have a better chance of winning at least a million as a new Millionaire Raffle will guarantee at least one millionaire per draw, and rollovers will be larger meaning a larger overall prize.

Lotto players seem less keen on the changes though and have reacted angrily on Twitter to the news that the odds of them winning the full jackpot have changed.

Despite criticism from the public organisers Camelot have assured lottery fans that by changing the way the Lotto works there will be more chances of the smaller million pound prize and ultimately bigger rollover jackpots to play for.
