Girlfriend of England rugby captain tells of 'abuse' after Wales defeat

Camilla Kerslake, the girlfriend of England rugby captain Chris Robshaw says she has suffered from "abuse in the street" since last Saturday's defeat to Wales.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Miss Kerslake, 27, - a classical singer - said she has asked a friend to stay over at their south London home for security. Robshaw's dog, Ricom, - a rottweiler/german shepherd mix - adds extra protection.

The Sun says that "disgruntled fans" have found out where the couple live and have shouted abuse from the street outside their home.

The abuse appears to have been prompted by Robshaw's failed attempt to secure a match-winning try in the dying moments of England's last Rugby World Cup game against Wales.

Some timid critics suggest a penalty kick - and resulting draw - was the best option.

Miss Kerslake said that being labelled as a 'wag' of a prominent sports star was difficult to come to terms with.

"I’m struggling with being disliked by some people because of the negative side of the wag label,” Kerslake said in the interview, adding: “When we’re at home we try to keep things mundane. He doesn’t talk to me about singing and I don’t talk to him about his rugby.”

England face off against Australia at Twickenham today in a match the hosts must win to remain in the competition.
