Does water discovery prove there is life on Mars?

What this shows us is that Mars is more habitable than we perhaps thought.

It doesn't make life more possible - it makes life less impossible, if that makes sense.

We know that water existed on Mars billions of years ago, so all the searches have focuses on fossils of life.

But what the new discovery shows is that perhaps it's there now.

If you took rare microbes from this planet and put them on Mars, they would survive.

However, just because life could survive there, it doesn't mean that it does.

What you would need to do is land something on there, scoop up the soil and look for other signs of life there.

But there is a possibility that, yes, life could survive.
