A mother has told how a recording of her son's voice helped wake her from a coma after a horrific car crash.

Danielle Bartley's Peugeot 207 careered through a puddle on the M3 and collided with the embankment, leaving Danielle trapped inside.

The 35-year-old lost her right arm in the accident and was left with neck injuries and in a coma.

Her family were warned to expect the worst.

Danielle and her son Ethan told Good Morning Britain how he recorded a message for his mother and it was played to her by nurses every day while she was in the coma.

The message read: "Hello Mummy. Its Ethan. I'm fine with Nanny. I need you to rest and do as the doctors say so you can wake up. I love you, Mummy."

Her mother said one time when it was played there were tears streaming down her face and they knew she was waking up.
