Smiles - and some grimaces - as Corbyn is elected new Labour leader

I've been gauging the reaction in the room immediately after this leadership in result.

There were a lot of smiles from activists.

But in the faces of many senior party members the smiles looked more like grimaces.

They can't change the fact that nearly two thirds of those who voted chose Jeremy Corbyn.

Lord (John) Prescott said that was a great thing for the Labour movement - even though the former Deputy Prime Minister voted for Andy Burnham.

But Margaret Beckett, who was one of the 35 MPs who nominated Mr Corbyn, told me she deeply regretted it.

Some members of the Shadow Cabinet said they'd resign immediately.

Others wanted to know first what direction Mr Corbyn will take before deciding on whether to take a job.

The big question for Labour and its new leader is this: can they show how to make Lanour an election winning force when, in May, voters decided the wanted a Conservative government, not a Labour one.

Labour supporters have spoken.

We know what they want.

What will the electorate make of their decision?
