Former music mogul Jonathan King has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.

The 70-year-old is said to have been detained in relation to offences against underage boys in the 1970s and 1980s.

Two other men, aged 77 and 86, are also being questioned on suspicion of the same offence.

The arrests were made as part of a police investigation into alleged child sex crimes connected to the Walton Hop Disco in Walton-on-Thames.

Officers were pictured in the Sun newspaper carrying evidence bags from King's house.

The homes of the other suspects have also been searched and the force said it is pursuing a "number of lines of inquiry".

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Karen Mizzi said: "This is a complex investigation into numerous allegations of sexual abuse and assault dating back over several decades.

"Our investigation focuses on the Walton Hop Disco, a popular event for youngsters between the 1970s and 1980s, and we are following a number of lines of inquiry.

"However, if anyone has information that may help the investigation I would ask them to contact us."

Last year ex-Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning was jailed for 13 years for sexually assaulting 24 boys - some as young as 10-years-old - between 1967 and 1987.

The Disco was said to be one of the places he found his victims.

King, a former chart-topping star and TV producer, had worked on BBC shows such as No Limits and The Great British Song Contest.

His 1965 single Everyone's Gone to the Moon reached number four in the UK and number 17 in America.

The impresario also discovered and named Genesis and produced the first hit for the Bay City Rollers.
