Kermit the Frog denies new girlfriend rumours

Kermit the Frog has been forced to deny rumours that he has a new romantic interest, just weeks after his high-profile split with long-term girlfriend Miss Piggy.

The Muppets star's love life has been the focus of much speculation since a source told US website People that he had been "spotted around town numerous times" with a head of marketing at the show's network, ABC.

According to the magazine's mole, Kermit's rumoured new love interest, named Denise, is "always stopping by the set" of Up Late with Miss Piggy - on which Kermit still works with his famous ex.

The source even added that Kermit describes Denise his "new girlfriend".

However, the amphibian issued a stern rebuttal on his official Twitter account shortly after.

Kermit may not have been the only one to have moved on after his conscious uncoupling, if a picture posted on Instagram by actor Liam Hemsworth is anything to go by.

The image shows the Hunger Games hunk getting up close with Miss Piggy, whom he describes as "the most beautiful girl in the world".
