Gunman opens fire on Amsterdam-Paris train in suspected terror attack
Three people have been injured after a gunman opened fire on a train travelling from Amsterdam to Paris.
The man, said to be armed with a Kalashnikov rifle, was detained after being overpowered by passengers on the Thalys high-speed train shortly after 4pm local time.
Local media reports said that two American passengers heard the firearm being loaded and overpowered the man who was of North African origin.
Actor Jean-Hugues Anglade, star of Hollywood films Taking Lives and Killing Zoe, received a minor injury to his hand after breaking glass to sound the alarm, according to reports.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior told Le Parisien that it was premature to call it a terrorist attack but it has not been ruled out.
