Alastair Campbell: Corbyn victory would be 'car crash' for Labour
Alastair Campbell has published a fierce attack on Labour leadership favourite Jeremy Corbyn, claiming his victory would be a "car crash" for the party.
Tony Blair's former spin doctor followed the Prime Minister and former Cabinet minister Alan Johnson in condemning the rise of the leftish figure, claiming a Corbyn win would mean that Labour had "given up on being a serious party of government".
Campbell even went as far as calling for Labour supporters to sign up to vote for "ABC", for "anyone but Corbyn", adding that the surpise race leader was being wrongly endorsed as "some kind of cross between Russell Brand, Nicola Sturgeon and their favourite uncle".
The key New Labour figure said he welcomed energising and inspiring figures within the party but warned the MP for North Islington's rocketing popularity was dangerous for the party.
"The Labour Party, if it elects Jeremy Corbyn as leader, is selecting someone that every piece of political intelligence, experience and analysis tells you will never be elected Prime Minister," he said.
