David Beckham has 'promising career as an actor', says his pal Guy Ritchie

David Beckham is eyeing up a new career as an actor - if his close friend Guy Ritchie is to be believed.

The film director thinks Becks has a promising career on the big screen despite the footballer previously saying he was "too stiff".

And to prove it, Ritchie has cast Becks in his film Round Table: Arthur and he also has a cameo in his latest flick The Man from UNCLE.

"We've put him in Arthur, which we've just finished, and he was fabulous in that. He's got a bigger role in that," Ritchie said.

"We'll go steadily with David and see where that goes. He does enjoy it (acting)."

The Man From UNCLE, based on the original 60s show, stars Superman actor Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer in the spy roles originally played by Robert Vaughn and David McCallum.

The film had its premiere at London's Somerset House last night.

It was Ritchie's first public appearance since he tied the knot with Jacqui Ainsley last weekend.
