'It shattered our world': Emotional prayer service held for Bosley mill blast victims

An emotional prayer service has been held to remember the victims of the Bosley mill explosion, a week on from the disaster.

Four people are believed to have been killed in the blast at the Wood Treatment Limited plant in Cheshire.

Reverend John Harries, vicar of St Mary the Virgin Church in the village, said the blast had "shattered our world".

"Last week the unthinkable happened - an explosion took place here in Bosley that quite simply shattered our world," he said.

Candles were lit as more than 100 villagers - some of them relatives of those killed - came together and were asked to think of those who lost their lives and were injured.

ITV News Correspondent Martin Geissler reports:

Some members of the congregation were visibly emotional after after the closing hymn, Abide with Me.

"It's ripped the community apart," Mr Harries said.

"This is really painful to get through, it's harrowing. But at the same time I can see our community coming closer together than it ever has done before and I have every confidence we will emerge stronger and even closer, if that is possible."

Bosley residents embrace as the victims are remembered.
Candles were lit in memory of the four victims.
Hymns were sung during the service.

Three bodies have been recovered in the search of the wreckage.

Derek Moore, 62, has been identified as one of the victims, while the other two bodies are believed to be those of William Barks, 51, and Dorothy Bailey, 62.

Their colleague Jason Shingler, 38, is still unaccounted for.
