Weather: Sunshine and frequent showers

A mix of sunshine and frequent showers today, with longer downpours turning intense and thundery across Scotland, northern England and the Midlands.

Where it stays drier, there will be sheltered sunnier spots further south, with highs of 24°C but otherwise feeling cooler in the breeze.

We'll need to wait until the end of the week for it to become drier and warmer.
