Nick Tandy has become the first British driver to win Le Mans 24-hour race since 2013 alongside Nico Hulkenberg and Earl Bamber.

It was Tandy's first Le Mans in the top level - LMP1 - category after he had previously raced in the GT category.

He becomes the first English driver to win since Guy Smith in 2003 and hands Porsche their maiden victory since 1998, the team having returned to top level sportscars only last year.

Tandy's co-drivers in the Porsche 919 Hybrid were F1 driver, Hulkenberg, who was making his Le Mans debut and Earl Bamber, a Kiwi also making his debut at the 24-hour race.

Great Britain now has the outright record for most wins at 30 with France remaining on 29.

Meanwhile, Hulkenberg becomes the first current F1 driver to win Le Mans since Britain's Johnny Herbert with Mazda in 1991.
