Competitors go toe-to-toe in wrestling championship
The British Toe Wrestling Championship got underway in Derbyshire this weekend.
The annual event was held at the Bentley Brook Inn in Ashbourne.
Based on the better-known sport of arm wrestling, toe wrestling sees competitors use their feet and toes to overpower their opponent.
Contestants must have their toes thoroughly examined and passed by a qualified nurse before being given clearance to compete.
Current champion Alan Nash, known as Nasty Nash, managed to toe the line to secure his 12th title.
Afterwards Mr Nash said: "Being toe wrestling champion is great. I feel I am a bit of an ambassador for the country. I am glad I can do something for Britain, very proud to be British."
