Thomas Cook chief executive 'set to receive £10.5m bonus'
The Thomas Cook chief executive who accepted millions of pounds in compensation for the company following the deaths of two children in a hotel in Corfu is reportedly due to receive a personal bonus of £10.5m.
Harriet Green was in charge of Thomas Cook in the years after Bobbi and Christi Shepherd were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning in 2006.
During that time, the company was criticised for refusing to apologise to the family of the two children.
An inquest into the deaths later ruled that Thomas Cook has breached its duty of care
A spokesperson for Ms Green said her remuneration was based "on her ability to turn around a failing company, which she successfully did."
Mary Creagh, Labour MP for Wakefield, said: "I think it's outrageous that the person who refused to meet with my constituents is getting a payment this big.
"I think she needs to examine her conscience and see how much of it she feels she should accept."
