There will be no further action taken over a BBC radio presenter who said women should "keep their knickers on" while discussing convicted rapist and footballer Ched Evans, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom says.

Nick Conrad, a talk show host on BBC Radio Norfolk, made the comments during a live debate about the former Sheffield United striker, after he had provoked an outcry by returning to train with the club.

Rape campaigners also condemned the comments.

The BBC - and Mr Conrad - apologised for the remarks, he said:

Ofcom examined whether his comments breached "content standards" after 46 listeners complained.

It said the presenter's comments "were offensive" and were "not justified by the context of the show" but the BBC had taken steps to limit the offence.
