RAF codebreaker was one of the first to know war was over
One of the veterans at the VE Day commemorations today was among the first to know Germany had been defeated in Europe.
Bernard Morgan's role as RAF code-breaker meant he found out more than a day before the rest of the world, but was forbidden from sharing the good news.
This afternoon he was one of four veterans selected to meet the Queen.
He told ITV News Correspondent Paul Davies that despite his frailty, he was determined to join others in remembering his fallen friends.
Former Sergeant Morgan said he kept the secret not just until after VE Day, but for 50 years.
