Pope Francis managed to spin a basketball on his finger with help from the Harlem GlobeTrotters as they visited the Vatican.

The Pope is known as an ardent football fan, openly supporting his favourite Argentinean football team, but he admitted his love for other ball sports as he met with the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team at the Vatican.

During their Italy tour, the team met with the Pontiff following his weekly general audience in St. Peter's square.

The Pope was all smiles as some of the players tried to teach him basketball tricks and after some encouragement tried his hand at ball spinning.

According to a representative, the Pope was made an honorary member of the team and given his own personal shirt.
