Ryan Gosling eats his cereal in honour of internet meme creator
Ryan Gosling said his "heart goes out" to the family and friends of a man who created an internet meme around the star failing to eat his cereal.
Ryan McHenry, from Glasgow, became an online sensation after posting video clips of the actor which appeared to show him refusing to eat spoonfuls of cereal.
He died at the weekend after a long battle with cancer.
McHenry is said to have had the idea while eating his own cereal and watching Gosling in the hit film Drive.
He realised that by holding his spoon in front of the screen he could make it appear that Gosling was refusing to eat - and an internet classic was born.
After the news of his death emerged, Gosling posted a video of himself tucking into a bowl of cereal and told his fans: "My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry's family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been a part of his life in some small way."
McHenry made some 30 short videos of the Hollywood star, in all of them he refused to eat even a single spoonful of cereal.
McHenry also made other Vines, many of them highlighting his struggle with cancer.
A group of the film-maker's friends have set up a page for donations to cancer charity Sarcoma UK in his memory, saying there was "nothing more appropriate to honour Ryan's life than by making a positive impact on the lives of others suffering from this disease."
