Student, 19, found dead inside University of Southampton halls after 'helium leak'
A student has been found dead inside a halls of residence at Southampton University following a suspected helium leak.
The body of the 19-year-old man was discovered inside a room at the university's Glen Eyre halls on Thursday morning.
Hampshire Police confirmed that a "large amount" of helium was inside the building when emergency crews broke down the door of the room to find the student.
Specialist officers were sent to the scene to ensure the gas did not pose a risk to anyone else nearby.
The teenager's death is not being treated as suspicious, the spokesperson added.

A University of Southampton spokesperson told ITV News: “The University is liaising closely with the family and have offered its full support to them.
"The University has also extended its support services to all students and staff who may be affected by the news."
