Man appears in court charged with murder of Karen Buckley

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Karen Buckley and with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Alexander Pacteau made no plea or declaration as he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody according to the Crown Office.

The body of Miss Buckley was found at a farm by police on Thursday.

The 24-year-old nurse from Cork in Ireland had gone missing after a night out with friends on Saturday.
