MH370: Search area could be extended if wreckage not found
The governments of Australia, China and Malaysia say they will extend the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 by an additional 60,000 square miles if wreckage is not found in the current search area.
The continuing extended search for the missing airliner – which vanished without trace last year – could take up to a further 12 months, officials said at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. Some believe the aircraft went down in the Indian Ocean, far off the Australian west coast.
