Parents of murdered April Jones: Writing a book has helped us move on

The parents of April Jones have told ITV's This Morning programme that writing a book about their harrowing experience has helped them come to terms with the brutal murder of their daughter.

Paul and Coral Jones have released a book about their experiences in the hope that it will help others in similar situations - despite Mrs Jones admitting she hasn't been able to read the finished work.

Coral Jones said: "It has been hard [dealing with the loss of April], it hasn't been plain sailing and I still struggle now."

In the interview, the Jones's say being present when the house April was murdered in was demolished, saying that this experience helped them move on from their traumatic experience.

The pair also say that more should be done to help potential paedophiles to avoid child abuse.

"If you're not yet a paedophile, but have started to think about children along that line, if you're asking for help you deserve a chance. It's a prevention." said Paul Jones.

April was snatched from the street near her home in Machynlleth in 2012 and she disappeared almost without trace. Her body was never found, but local man Mark Bridger was charged with her murder and sentenced to a life behind bars.
