Noel Edmonds voted Britain's favourite children's TV presenter

Noel Edmonds has been voted Britain's favourite children's TV presenter.

The Swap Shop star beat off competition from Ant and Dec to be handed the crown following a poll of 1,294 mothers and fathers by Chad Valley Toys.

Edmonds, 66, hosted the BBC Saturday morning show from 1976 to 1982.

Ant and Dec - who now present Saturday Night Takeaway - came ahead of Blue Peter's Valerie Singleton and Chris Tarrant, who took fourth place for his work on 1970s ITV show Tiswas.

This Morning host Phillip Schofield came in at number five for his stint presenting BBC's The Broom Cupboard in 1985.
