Jo Joyner haunted by EastEnders 'How's Adam' live show gaffe
Actress Jo Joyner has admitted she has been left haunted by her mistake during the EastEnders live episode.
The 37-year-old, who reprised her role as Tanya Branning in the 30th anniversary specials, mistakenly referred to Ian Beale by the name of the actor who plays him, saying: "How's Adam?"
The gaffe sparked a social media frenzy, and Joyner admits she has not been able to watch the mistake back.
"I don't need to (watch it) because people were sending me pictures of my face in shock every day on Twitter. So I've seen that image a few million times," Joyner told Radio Times magazine.
Describing her decision to tweet after the mistake, the actress said: "I thought I had to have the first word about it.
"If I'd gone to ground, it would have given people the chance to think that I was distressed and they'd have jumped on me.
She admitted returning to the EastEnders set a night after her mistake was one of her toughest moments in her career.
"I've got a good sense of humour. But I couldn't laugh about it until I'd gone out there the next night. I knew that people were watching to see if I messed up again.
"And to do that next episode live in front of 10 million viewers was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do."
Joyner said she currently had no plans to return to the soap again.
"You never know. But I'm definitely not ready to go back at the moment. I'm having such a good time outside of the show," she said.
