Dramatic footage has emerged showing the moment a man trapped under a bus was rescued by dozens of passengers.

Chang Suibin was knocked down by the huge bus in China's Henan province on Friday, leaving his hip trapped down the vehicle's front wheel.

After calls for help from responding police officer Tang Xiaoqi, more than 20 passengers and passers-by worked together to lift the vehicle and drag Mr Suibin free.

After his miraculous escape, Mr Suibin is now recovering in hospital after suffering a broken pelvis.

Describing the moment of the rescue, Mr Xiaoqi said: "People nearby, passengers from the bus and pedestrians waiting at the traffic lights by this intersection all came together to lift the bus.

"We failed at first, but then more people joined in - some lifting and some pulling the victim - and eventually we got him out."

"My sincere thanks to everybody, to the friends, to the kindhearted people of Zhengzhou.... Good people can be found everywhere in our society,"Mr Suibin told China Central Television.
