Toddler lost limbs after developing Meningitis B
Harmonie-Rose Allen lost all her limbs after she was struck down with Meningitis B just days after she took her first steps at nine months old.
Doctors said her case was one of the worst they had ever seen and were concerned she would not survive the illness.
"She was happy, playing in the morning and then within four hours she was critically ill," mother Freya Hall said.
But the toddler, from Bath, Somerset, defied doctors to recover from the illness.
Ms Hall said: "I'm amazed I can't believe how well she's doing. She does make me proud.
"We'll always have that memory of Harmonie taking those first steps with her own legs and we'll always have the memories of her being able to cuddle her teddies and being able to suck her own thumb. I think you just have to put it to the back of your mind."
The toddler, now 15 months old, has had ten operations and will need to endure many more.
Her parents have called for all children to be vaccinated.
Ms Hall added: "I want everybody to be vaccinated. What's the point in letting children suffer like Harmonie has when there's something there that can prevent that."
