Residents of an island that was directly in the path of Cyclone Pam have told ITV News that they are having to drink rainwater as they wait for aid supplies to reach them.

The island of Tanna, 117 miles from Port Vila the capital of Vanuatu, was badly damaged after it was pounded for eight hours by the storm.

Some 80% of the island's 50,000 population has been left displaced with homes and crops destroyed.

Hospitals are running short on medical supplies and have no clean water while food and rice supplies are also running low on the island.
