Girl's heartfelt lost letter to dead father returned
A young girl's heartfelt letter to her dead father has been returned to its author after it was lost, and later found, in a pub car park.
The 'Dear Daddy' letter, handwritten by a girl called Summer, was reunited with its owner after it was discovered outside the Prince of Wales Pub on Ham Hill, Somerset, and a search began to find its writer.
The letter, signed "your little girl Summer", is a heartfelt ode to a beloved father who "is always" in his daughter's mind and in one touching line the writer says "I just wish I could have said one last goodbye and one last hug before you took your journey to your new home in heaven."
The letter, which was reunited with Summer after the landlady of the Prince of Wales Pub launched a social media campaign on Twitter to find the youngster.
It reads: "I love you. I miss you so much and I wish you were here right now!
"At night I sometimes look at the sky and make a wish and I make a wish on the brightest star I see and I believe it is you.
"I always think of you on your birthday, fathers day, my birthday and Christmas and always after."
The pub confirmed the letter had been returned to Summer today and posted a Facebook message to thank everyone who had helped to track her down:
