Fernando Alonso crashes into wall during Formula One testing
Formula One driver Fernando Alonso has been airlifted to hospital after crashing his McLaren during testing in Barcelona.
The Spaniard hit the wall at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour in the final pre-season test on Sunday, officials said.
The two-time world champion was treated at the scene at the Circuit de Catalunya, before being airlifted to a local hospital for further checks.
Alonso, 33, was said to be "ok and conscious".
It is unclear whether the crash was caused by a error from Alonso or a technical malfunction.
Ferrari, who Alonso left at the end of last season to return to McLaren, tweeted: "All the best Fernando."
