Thousands of Russians are marching in Moscow to mark the first anniversary of what they viewed as a "coup" in neighbouring Ukraine.

The action, sparked by the deaths of 100 protesters in Kiev's Maiden Square exactly a year ago, ousted Ukraine's pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych in 2014 and triggered a violent conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Placards which read, "We won't forgive! We won't forget!" were held up at the rally.

It is still unclear who was responsible for the massacre but current Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has claimed there was a "clear Russian link".
