A backing dancer dressed as a shark appeared to go rogue during a spectacular Super Bowl half-time show with singer Katy Perry last night.

Some accused the mystery dancer - known as "left shark" - of making it up as he or she went along in front of a global audience of tens of millions as Perry sang through her six-song set.

Nonetheless, whoever it was became quickly hailed as the star of the night.

One tweeter wrote: "18 years of expensive dance training for This. Moment."

Another wrote: "But seriously, who is in the shark costume? Twitter deserves to know."

The internet is now desperate to find the Super Bowl's unwitting star - with Reddit users putting out a call on the social network to grill them.
