Lucky escape for driver as skidding car nose-dives into basement

A driver had a lucky escape this morning as his car skidded on an icy road to end up nose down at basement level.

Miraculously, no-one was injured in the crash, which happened just before 7am this morning in north Edinburgh, and just a few windows were broken in the basement flat.

A police spokesperson told the Daily Record,

Snow and ice have caused travel disruption across Scotland today, with up to 15cm of snow - around six inches - predicted to fall in some Highland areas tonight, and more wintry weather forecast into the weekend.
