Snow storm in Lebanon threatens lives of Syrian refugees
Aid agencies said thousands of Syrians living in camps in the Bekaa Valley are struggling to survive after heavy snowfalls in Lebanon.
Since the start of the war in Syria over 1.2 million Syrian refugees fled to Lebanon. Around 400,000 of them live in the Bekaa Valley and are vulnerable to the worst weather that has been seen in the area for decades.
Many refugees received fuel vouchers, cash vouchers, stoves, blankets as well as heaters. But UNHCR and its partners are concerned about how the most vulnerable will struggle to stay warm.
UNHCR spokesperson, Lisa Abou Khaled, said the situation is "very difficult".
