A chilly, frosty night ahead with fog in some parts of the UK which will be slow to lift. In the morning the fog will linger and there will be the risk of showers in parts of east Anglia.

The weather for New Year's Eve celebrations is expected to be wet and windy for the north west but dry and chilly in the south east.
