Weather: Prepare for a big chill overnight

The snow and sleet some of us have seen is now clearing the south east.

We are expecting some lovely spells of sunshine across central parts of the UK today but there are already some showers developing across Scotland and Northern Ireland that are extending their way south.

The general story for the rest of the day is a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers - some of which could contain some sleet and snow.

It's going to feel very cold in parts, with temperatures between 3C and 6C before falling to as low as -6C in some areas overnight.
