Cult internet star 'Wealdstone Raider' makes surprise chart entry with Christmas single
Gordon Hill - better known as The Wealdstone Raider - has thrown his football shirt into the ring for the battle for 2014's Official Christmas Number One.
The internet sensation, who shot to fame on YouTube after mocking a rival football team's lack of fans and ground and threatening to "give some" to an opposition fan, has entered the UK Top 40 at number 37, according to Officialcharts.com.
The original Wealdstone Raider video has over 5 million views on YouTube, and now football's most popular fan is preparing to battle Simon Cowell for the much-coveted Christmas Number One title with his own single - with proceeds from it going to charity.
The seemingly fearless underdog has laid down the gauntlet in the Daily Mirror, with typical panache.
Profits from Got No Fans will be split between Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, Wealdstone Raiders Youth FC and Autism Concern.
You can purchase the song from iTunes here.
