Jimmy Bullard has defended his behaviour in the I'm A Celebrity... jungle, claiming his row with fellow contestant Jake Quickenden was "total banter".

Speaking to Good Morning Britain, the former professional footballer said he had seen the footage of his row with Jake, but defended his actions as "totally tongue in cheek".

However, the former Fulham player admitted the footage looked bad and could see how it would "come across harsh" to viewers.

Jimmy was the bookies' favourite to win I'm A Celebrity... but his fate was sealed after his clash with Jake.

A poll by ITV2 found that 76% of viewers felt he had gone too far in the row.

The former England midfielder was up against Tinchy Stryder, Melanie Sykes and Carl Fogarty for eviction and was the first to be booted off the show.

Aside from his early exit, Jimmy said he did not regret his time in the jungle with the "mad bunch" of contestants.

He told Good Morning Britain: "I wanted to have one of them big trials and I got to do the eating one in my second bush tucker trial.

"And to put some of that stuff in my mouth, you know what I mean? The bugs and I had some cow lips...to do it was a great achievement for me and I enjoyed it in a weird way."
