Man who killed Osama bin Laden reveals moment he shot al Qaeda leader
The ex-US Navy SEAL that shot Osama Bin Laden has described the moment he shot and killed the 'World's Most Wanted Man.'
Rob O'Neill was part of the elite SEAL Team Six that raided Bin Laden's compound in Abottabad, Pakistan.
In a controversial Fox News interview, Mr O'Neill describes the moment he opened fire upon the al-Qaeda mastermind:
O'Neill says he shot Bin Laden three times, "In the face, three times. He just fell by the left side of the bed."
"I just walked in, saw him, and shot him," he said.
"I was standing above him and when he took his last breath and I heard it, audibly."
When asked if he knew for sure if he was last to see Osama bin Laden alive, O'Neill said: "Absolutely. 100%."
O'Neill is one of the most decorated SEALs ever, having been honoured 52 times and completing more than 400 missions.
By going public the former SEAL faces being frozen out from the elite force which he worked in for 16 years.
The interview will raise concerns in the Pentagon that other members of SEAL Team Six might now be tempted to break their silence and tell their own stories and that the legendary mystique of one of the world's most secretive military units be damaged beyond repair.
