The two space craft which have journeyed to a comet chronicled their journey with an intimate back and forth like old friends on a road trip.

The two Twitter accounts for the craft interacted throughout the dramatic hours as they separated and the Philae Lander made its gentle way to the surface of the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

The Philae Lander landed on the 2.5 mile-wide rugged lump of ice and dust that is hurtling through space at around 40,000 mph, 300 million miles away from Earth.

The pair were launched together a decade ago.
