A new version of the Christmas hit Do They Know It's Christmas? will be released to mark 30 years since Band Aid.

The 1984 single raised £8 million for famine-affected Ethiopia and has concerts have since gone on to raise more than £150 million for charity.

It is the fourth time the song, tipped as a strong contender for this year's Christmas Number 1, has been recorded.

The original line up featured the likes of Bananarama, George Michael and Duran Duran, and U2 frontman Bono - the only singer to perform the same line in both the original and the most recent versions.

But organisers, Boomtown Rats frontman Sir Bob Geldof and Ultravox's Midge Ure, are expected to announce this year's line up later today.
