Soldier jailed for sex attack at Army training barracks

A soldier has been jailed for five years and nine months for a sexual assault that took place at Sandhurst Army training academy in Berkshire.

Stephen Chaters, 24, subjected his 21-year-old victim to a vicious attack in a bedroom, and then in a car park as she attempted to flee, police said.

Chaters, who had been drinking in Camberley, Surrey, attacked the woman when he returned to the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, Berkshire, Thames Valley Police said.

He grabbed her hair and banged her head against the ground when she attempted to escape.

He was found guilty of sexual assault and battery and was jailed at Reading Crown Court yesterday. Thames Valley Police said:
